All
placements/host organisations are currently located in and around Siem Reap as this is where Interweave is based.
Your
placement will be influenced by your skills, education, experiences and preferences as well as accounting to the needs of
the projects at the time.
The
majority of placements are within the Education sector. Your main role as a volunteer will be to help teach English at your
project, which could be a day care, school, college or community center in or around Siem Reap. Along with teaching English,
volunteers could use their skills to help in the following areas at the projects:
- Arts,
crafts, and musical development
- Sports coaching
- IT education
- Health
and hygiene programs
- PR, marketing and fundraising
Previous experience of teaching
and/or working with children/young adults is preferred by most organisations.
For
volunteer with specific qualifications and work experience in place, Interweave offers a selection of non-teaching positions.
These placements are active in the field of health
care, social care and (physical) rehabilitation. The organisations involved are mainly in need of skilled social workers,
physiotherapists, orthopedics and midwives. The main role of foreign volunteers is to assist in or advice on the project's
outreach work, develop staff training, help with a variety of administrational tasks and write proposals.
Other non-teaching opportunities include photography, graphic design, accounting and
IT placements.
